    SISD Faculty, Staff, and Parents,

As many of you are aware, the recent Coronavirus emergence has many around the globe, nationally, and locally prompting closures of higher institutions, including Tarleton State University. Large crowd gatherings are also being cancelled or limited. Reviewing the statistics of this virus at the present time, we are not in a position to call for school closures. We do value the individual decisions that you as parents and staff have regarding the virus. Subsequently, we are suspending all perfect attendance and exam exemption requirements until further notice.

Travel to the West Coast and outside of the country is a primary concern for the District. If you or anyone in your family have traveled in this manner, please contact your Campus Principal and make them aware of these excursions.

We are currently communicating with local city, county and health care officials to coordinate an appropriate response to this health care issue. I am also including a link to the Texas Education Agency's communication and resources regarding the virus. We are also conducting some additional sanitizing efforts in conjunction with our custodial provider.

There are things everyone can do to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

*Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
*Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
*Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
*Stay home when you are sick.
*Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then wash your hands.
*Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
