SlimPickins Outfitters nominated as #CoolShop of the Year, Vote by Feb 5
Local downtown retailer SlimPickins Outfitters has been nominated as a finalist in the running for the #CoolShop of the year award.
In 2019, SNEWS shone the spotlight on 12 standout specialty outdoor stores across the country in their #CoolShops column. From matching prices online to offering free drinking water to preserving their town's history, these shops are seriously killing it at retail. And through the inaugural #CoolShop Awards, SNEWS is celebrating one standout shop in 2020. The winner gets $500 to throw a staff appreciation party, a custom banner created by artist Latasha Dunston, a slot on the Channel Mastery podcast, and the ultimate bragging rights. The deadline to vote is Feb. 5, 2020.
SlimPickins is the only shop from Texas to be nominated, and they have also been notified that they are the first and only black-owned outdoor shop in the nation. According to shop owner Jahmicah Dawes, "We are proud to be recognized for who we are: a minority-owned, Tarleton Alumni, Christ-centered mission-minded, disciple-makers, and native Texans!"
