    • About

The Tarleton State University College of Agriculture and Natural Resources enhances global agriculture by developing leaders and delivering innovative experiential learning, conducting relevant research and providing community and global service.

Teaching agricultural sciences has been an integral part of Tarleton from its founding in 1899. For its first 50 years, the school was known as John Tarleton Agricultural College.

Today that tradition is stronger than ever, with enrollment exceeding 2,000 students. Tarleton ranks second among Texas programs in the number of students majoring in agriculture, and third nationally among non-land grant universities.

Graduates are known for high performance and for their know-how. They contribute meaningfully to their professions in animal science, agribusiness, education, wildlife science, ecosystem sciences, environmental sciences and veterinary technology. Many of our graduates go on to veterinary or other professional schools.
