    Date: November 18, 2025
    Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM CST
    Event Description:
Join Dr. Liles at the W. K. Gordon Center on November 18th at 6 pm for her final Tuesday Talk of 2025, "Escaping Texas: Ann Bellinger, Monterey, and the Civil War."

Ann Bellinger and her family made the decision to escape from Texas during the American Civil War and go to Monterey, Mexico. Leaving her home in Gonzales, Bellinger kept a diary of the journey, daily life in Monterey, the challenges she faced, and the heartbreak of knowing her sons had enlisted to fight in the war. In Mexico, the Bellingers joined a community of other Americans who did their best to keep in touch with their families and friends and conduct their businesses as well as they could. Join us for a different perspective on Texans in the Civil War.
