The Major George B. Erath chapter 2679 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy with the assistance of the 2nd Texas Frontier Camp 1904 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans come together to honor 5 Veterans who served in the defense of the United States of America in time of war. Each Veteran to be honored descended from a Confederate Soldier who served honorably in the War Between the States 1861-1865. The Sons of Confederate Veterans will honor the recipients with a cannon and rifle salute
The honorees are:
- Leroy (Candyman) Griffin to receive 2 crosses, one for his service in WWII and one for his service in the Korean war.
- Vernon Mills posthumous WWII Cross
- Fred Ewers posthumous WWII Cross
- Jack Parks Korean Cross
- Gene Skaggs National Defense Viet Nam Medal.
