The SKYWARN Storm Spotter course will help residents and local emergency management prepare for everything from tornadoes and wildfires to drought and heavy rains. In addition to thunderstorm formation and features associated with severe and non-severe storms, the training includes a close look at the meteorology behind the Canton area tornado outbreak in 2017. The program also highlights severe weather safety and how to report information to local public safety officials.
The class is for organized storm spotters and/or anyone with an interest in severe weather and is part of a regional severe weather preparedness campaign that includes training sessions across 46 counties in north and central Texas. For other classes in the region, click here!
