This course opens with a discussion of some of the major reasons for malpractice suits and ethical complaints in the counseling field. The purpose is to identify ethical pitfalls to avoid. In addition, some of the most challenging ethical dilemmas are discussed. Because avoidance is an inadequate way of truly acting ethically, the workshop introduces a strengths-based approach for dealing with ethical dilemmas. Five strengths at the heart of the model make ethical challenges less difficult and serve as the core to one’s everyday ethics, as well as the framework for a principled life.
Meets requirements for 3 hours of LPC CEU’s.
