Spring has sprung, so it’s time for Dinner in the Stacks at Tarleton State University’s Dick Smith Library. The event takes place Saturday, April 14.
Hosted by the Friends of the Dick Smith Library, the dinner features author Elaine Fields Smith, who will share from her book Ridin' Ropin' & Jumpin' Over Cars: The Biography of Virginia Reger - A True Rodeo Star.
Reger, now in her 90s, will attend the event.
Based on decades of memorabilia and photographs, the book is a unique biography. Using newspaper clippings, rodeo programs, letters and photos, it covers Reger’s life in rodeo.
Appetizers are served at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 and the evening’s program. Copies ofRidin' Ropin' & Jumpin' Over Cars: The Biography of Virginia Reger - A True Rodeo Star will be available for sale and signing.
Tickets for Dinner in the Stacks are available online at http://bit.ly/XLQfFK or at the Dick Smith Library. Deadline to purchase tickets is noon, Wednesday, April 11. Cost for Friends of the Library is $20, while non-members pay $25.
Established in 1990, the Friends of the Dick Smith Library is a volunteer organization dedicated to the support of the university’s library. The organization funds the acquisition of educational amenities that lie outside the library budget; sponsors discussions, lectures, book talks and other scholarly activities; and helps with endowments, bequests and other gifts to the library.
