    Event Description:
    Take a break from back-to-school preparations Saturday, Aug. 20, when Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas hosts Night at the Opera House, featuring Treasure Island.
     
    The 1934 classic—based on the work of Robert Louis Stevenson—stars Jackie Cooper and Lionel Barrymore.
     
    The free swashbuckling adventure starts at 6:30 p.m., with free snacks at intermission. Seating is limited and reservations are requested. To reserve seats, call 254-968-1886 or email gordoncenter@tarleton.edu.
     
    The W.K. Gordon Center, a Tarleton museum and research facility located in the historic ghost town of Thurber, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
