Traditional and art quilts are by Dublin Rippers members Hazel Ashcraft, Peggy DeLaVergne, and Suzann Thompson, with guest quilter Elaine Fields Smith. The Rippers began as a weekly bee, where friends gathered to work on their quilting projects and talk. The Pandemic stopped the group from meeting for over a year, which stopped most of the talking, but not the making.
All are welcome to a reception hosted by the quilters, Thursday, July 29, 6-8 p.m., at the Gallery.
About the quilters: Hazel Ashcraft is a long-time quilter, who concentrates attention on quilted home décor this year.
Peggy DeLaVergne's quilts were featured in the Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas, Vol. 12, 2015-2016.
Suzann Thompson specializes in crochet and knitting, and began incorporating those crafts into wall quilts in the 1990s. Her work was featured in the Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas, Vol. 14, 2017-2018.
Elaine Fields Smith created a music-themed quilt to raise funds for the Stephenville Music Club. Raffle tickets will be available at the reception on July 29.
