    Name: Area FFA Contests
    Date: April 18, 2018
    Event Description:

Several thousand high school students and their sponsors will visit Stephenville on Wednesday, April 18, for the annual Area FFA Career Development Events contest hosted by Tarleton State University and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

Approximately 5,000 students and ag science educators representing 507 high schools will converge on the Tarleton campus to participate in various contests and vie for a berth at state FFA contests in their respective events.

Members from nine of the Texas FFA Association’s 10 areas will compete in 16 contests, including ag mechanics, ag sales, dairy cattle, entomology, farm business management, floriculture, horse judging, homesite evaluation, land, livestock judging, milk quality and products, nursery/landscape, poultry, range judging, vet tech and wool.

Next week’s contest follows the Tarleton FFA Invitational CDE Judging Contest — the world’s largest contest of its kind — attended by more than 8,500 high school students last month.

Tarleton hosts the state FFA contests for dairy cattle, environmental and natural resources, homesite evaluation, land, milk quality and products, and range on Thursday, April 26.
