Turnbow-Higgs American Legion Post & Auxiliary Unit 240 invites the public to attend Post 240’s annual Memorial Day Service conducted at West End Cemetery American Legion Veterans Field of Honor beginning at 9:00am on Monday May 26, 2025.
Master of Ceremony, Keith Fredrickson, Post 240 Vice Commander, will begin service with guest introductions and opening remarks followed by the invocation offered by Post 240 Chaplain Matt Hallgarth. Hoisting and lowering of flag to the CD bugle call “To the Colors,” and unison singing of our National Anthem will conclude service opening.
Guest speaker will be US Army Major (Retired) John Considine. Major Considine, a graduate of Tarleton State University, is currently serving as the Cadet Training Officer for the Texan Corps of Cadets.
He was commissioned into the US Army and served in the Corps of Engineers in December 2001. Major Considine deployed three times in support of overseas operations.
His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), Combat Action Badge, and Parachutist Badge.
Laying of wreath by guest speaker and Auxiliary Unit 240 President Martha Fredrickson followed by Post 240 Honor Guard Rifle Salute and Taps presented by Post 240 bugler will close the service.
