Set in 1950 in South Africa during the apartheid era, the play recounts the long, rainy afternoon that Harold spends with Sam and Willie, two middle-aged African servants of his parents' household and explores the complex relationship between the three as well as the underlying racism that marked the period. The play was originally banned in South Africa.
