    The status of immigrants is the focus for Tarleton State University’s annual observance of Constitution Day on Monday, Sept. 18.
     
    Huyen Pham, dean of the Texas A&M School of Law and nationally recognized immigration expert, will discuss “The Unique and Ordinary Constitutional Status of Immigrants” at 4 p.m. in Room 204 of the College of Business Administration on the Stephenville campus.
     
    This presentation is free and open to the public.
     
    “We are pleased to have Professor Pham as our 2017 Constitution Day speaker,” said Dr. Marcy Tanter, chairperson of Tarleton’s Constitution Day committee. “Her work on immigration is germane to many of our students and employees.”
     
    Pham is president of Hong Bang, Inc., a nonprofit organization that supports poor communities in Vietnam with finances and volunteer. She holds a bachelor of arts in social studies and juris doctorate from Harvard School of Law.
     
    Constitution Day was signed into law in 2004 by President George W. Bush and commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, recognizing all who have become citizens, whether by birth or naturalization.
