    Job Description
    Job Title:  Facilities Maintenance Technician  
    Department:  Facilities Maintenance
    Reports To:  Maintenance Department Supervisor
    Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for facilities; ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades work. Operates a variety of maintenance and cleaning tools and equipment; and performs related work as required.

    • Performs a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for Outlaw/Emerald facilities including but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades works.
    • Ensures that facilities are maintained in a safe and clean condition by
    • Performing some or all hand tool repair and/or machine repair in a timely manner
    • Performing clean-up work of scrap removal & dust collection
    • Performing custodial tasks such as cleaning and sanitation work in restrooms, sanitation of all work areas, shared tools, clock-in stations, and all frequent touch surfaces.
    • Assembles, repairs, maintains, and moves furniture such as desks, cabinets, tables, chairs, shelves, and related fittings and fixtures
    • Conducts routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air condition equipment; replaces filters, identifies & reports more complex maintenance needs to supervisor
    • Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security: Identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor
    • Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required
    • Assists with structural pest control measures
    • Monitors maintenance inventory, orders supplies, and maintains purchase records with authorized budget
    • Maintains records and logs of daily activities
    • Assists with Outlaw/Emerald special events as needed
    • Performs other maintenance related duties as assigned
    Education and Experience
        Less than High School education; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education     and experience.

    Knowledge of:
    • Of basic methods and techniques used in the operation, repair, and maintenance of facilities, and equipment.
    • Operational characteristics of variety of tools and equipment
    • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
    • Principles and practices of record-keeping
    • Principles and practices for providing high level customer service
    • Modern office practices, methods, and computer equipment and applications
    Skills Required
    Ability to:
    • Perform semi-skilled facility maintenance
    • Safety and effectively use, operate, and maintain equipment and tools.
    • Perform heavy manual labor
    • Understand, interpret and apply pertinent laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures
    • Independently organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow-up on assignments
    • Demonstrate strong customer service skills, and establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships
    • Maintain records and files on work performed
    • Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing
    Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
    • Texas Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record

    Physical Demands and Work Context
    Must possess the following:
    • strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work, to work around machines, to climb and descend ladders, to operate a variety of tools and equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle.
    • vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and to distinguish colors in wiring.

    • ability for frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards.
    • Finger dexterity needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, and to operate tools and equipment.
    • Hand dexterity needed to handle, control, feel objects, tools, machinery, and materials.
    • Incumbents in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and inspect work sites. Incumbents must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment. Incumbents in this position must possess the ability to stand, sit, crouch, stoop, or crawl to perform maintenance work. Incumbents in this position must be able to work in a repetitive movement. Position requires repetitive bending or twisting, lifting, carrying.
    Environmental Elements
    • Incumbents work both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. Exposure to chemicals, mechanical, and electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies and procedures.
    Working Conditions
    • Incumbents may be assigned an irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays
