              Agriculture is the leading industry, with Erath County in the top 10% in overall agriculture production and ranking #3 in milk production in the State of Texas.  In addition to farmers and ranchers, Fortune 500 companies provide a strong manufacturing diversity to the economy.  Stephenville serves as a regional medical and retail center for the area with many family-owned businesses thriving as they draw from our strong, diverse workforce, educational opportunities and family oriented atmosphere. 

              Tarleton State University, a part of the Texas A&M University System, is known far and wide for creating a culture of excellence in both academic and athletic programs. Erath County is also served by Ranger College, offering a variety of continuing education and workforce training for students of all ages.

              As the ‘Cowboy Capital of the World’, Stephenville is uniquely home to more professional rodeo cowboys and cowgirls than any other place in the world.  And the equine industry continues to grow throughout the surrounding County.

              Tarleton State University

              For over 100 years, Tarleton’s rich history, traditions and legends have resided in the hearts of students and alumni, linking generations together. Tarleton is the largest non-land grant agricultural university in the nation and offers the resources of a major public university, including 64 undergraduate degrees, 22 graduate degrees and a doctorate in education. In addition to cutting-edge academic facilities and faculty experts with extensive university and industry experience, Tarleton offers personal attention, warmth and faculty interaction expected from a smaller college. The university has experienced record enrollment over the past few years and now impacts over 9,500 students through the main Stephenville campus and an additional 3,500 at satellite locations in Waco, Midlothian and Fort Worth as well as through online classes. www.tarleton.edu
               

              Ranger College

              One of the oldest continuously operating public two-year colleges in the state of Texas, Ranger College offers general education as well as continuing education classes including business and professional, IT and software development, media and design, skilled trades, safety, industrial and sustainable energy. Vocational programs include child development, cosmetology, certified nursing assistant, LVN, welding, machining, EMS, and commercial truck driving courses.               Rail Service: Fort Worth & Western (FWWR):

              FWWR operates over 276 miles of track through 8 counties in North Central Texas. FWWR currently offers unmatched service with its connectivity to three Class-1 carriers and a single short-line railroad – Union Pacific (UPRR), BNSF and Kansas City Southern (KCS) in Fort Worth and Texas Pacifico (TXPF) at San Angelo Junction.  A rail-served location in Stephenville or Erath County can reach across the United States, into Canada today and within the next two years, will be able to reach into Mexico, via the border crossing at Presidio, between the Texas Pacifico (TXPF) and Ferromex Railroads.
