  • Overview Overview

Uniquely located in rural Texas one-hour southwest of Dallas/Fort Worth for easy access

to metropolitan amenities and a major airport, yet isolated from big city stress.

A city of over 20,000 friendly people, Stephenville is an inviting, gracious community

with a rich western heritage in a beautiful country setting along the Bosque River.

It is distinctively Texan – independent, hardworking, and educated.

Known as the ‘Cowboy Capital of the World’ and the ‘City of Champions’, Stephenville takes pride

in having small town values, where a strong work ethic, family-values, and a giving heart still matter.

Agriculture is the leading industry, with Erath County in the top 10% in overall agriculture production and ranking #3 in milk production in the State of Texas.  In addition to farmers and ranchers, Fortune 500 companies provide a strong manufacturing diversity to the economy.  Stephenville serves as a regional medical and retail center for the area with many family-owned businesses thriving as they draw from our strong, diverse workforce, educational opportunities and family oriented atmosphere.

Tarleton State University, a part of the Texas A&M University System, is known far and wide for creating a culture of excellence in both academic and athletic programs. Erath County is also served by Ranger College, offering a variety of continuing education and workforce training for students of all ages.

As the ‘Cowboy Capital of the World’, Stephenville is uniquely home to more professional rodeo cowboys and cowgirls than any other place in the world.  And the equine industry continues to grow throughout the surrounding County.

The ‘City of Champions’ designation reflects the commitment as a community to excellence in youth and civic organizations.  Our community strongly believes that investing in our youth is a wise and worthwhile endeavor.  Families seeking a positive place to raise kids will find an excellent school system, civic organizations dedicated to youth programs, numerous sports leagues, and family fun events at parks, museums and churches throughout the year.

Stephenville is a special place that reflects pride in the community’s rich heritage and commitment to the future. We welcome the opportunity to partner with your company and feel confident you will soon see why Stephenville has been listed as one of 'The 100 Best Small Towns in America!'
