              Event Description:
              The first Tarleton Jazz Ensemble concert of the semester is Thursday, February 18 in the auditorium of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center. The concert will feature Jazz Ensembles I&II playing the music of the dynamic jazz guitarist, Pat Metheny.
               
              Metheny’s music has deep connections to jazz but is also heavily influenced by Brazilian and other world music. His melodies are very lyrical and the rhythms infectious. There will be something for everyone at this show.
               
              Under the direction of Assistant Professor and Director of Jazz Bands Greg Ball, the ensemble travels to Italy May 12-22 for five performances. Several vocal performance majors will accompany the jazz band.

              Some of the tunes will be previews of what Jazz Ensemble I will be playing on their upcoming tour to Italy. “We are getting very excited about the trip! We are performing in Rome and Florence. We are playing at a famous winery in Tuscany. I’m excited to share this culture with my students. It should be a great trip,” says Ball. “But we could still use some help.”
