Stephenville Police Department K-9 Program Announcement
Name: Stephenville Police Department K-9 Program AnnouncementDate: March 7, 2017Time: 10:00 AM - 10:00 AM CSTEvent Description:The Stephenville Police Department would like to formally announce the beginning of its first ever K-9 Program. K-9 Officer Buky was purchased and trained at Tejas Elite Canine which is accredited and affiliated with both American Working Dogs and National Association fo Professional Canine Handlers. K-9 Officer Buky joined teh Stephenville Police Department in November 2016. Buky's handler, officer Gary Roberts has 11 years of experience as a police officer. Officer Roberts began his career in Stephenville then spent time with the Rosenberg Police Department before rejoining Stephenville in 2011. Officer Buky will be used in street patrol, drug enforcement and officer protection. Officer Buky is trained to alert the odor of illegal narcotics, not only in vehicles but in buildings, open areas, and on person. Officer Buky can be used for tracking criminal offenders who flee from law enforcement. This would include apprehending fleeing violent offenders which will reduce safety risks to officers. We feel that the addition of Officer Buky will add invaluably to the serves that the Stephenville Police Department provides to the community.
