    Name: Cybersecurity Summit
    Date: September 13, 2016
    Time: 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM CDT
    Event Description:
FBI and U.S. Secret Service officials join Tarleton State University’s School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Strategic Studies Sept. 13 for a cybersecurity summit designed to help North Texas entrepreneurs protect their brand from the inevitable data breach.

Cost is $149 and includes lunch. The summit is ideal for CEOs and chief security and information officers.

Keynote speaker is Bryan Sartin, managing director of Verizon RISK Labs and founder of Verizon Investigative Response, one of the world’s largest non-military IT investigations groups. Verizon Investigative Response conducts cyber investigations for more than 40 countries annually and has handled many of the world’s most damaging and publically visible data breaches.

Sartin is co-author of the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, an annual study on the contributing factors behind security failures.

“Cyberattacks happen on a daily basis and, inevitably, security breaches occur,” said Dr. Chris Copeland, director of Tarleton’s Institute of Homeland Security, Cyber Crime & International Criminal Justice Studies. “When these incidents happen, it’s vital that business leaders know where to look for indicators of compromise and have an appropriate response strategy in place.”

Other summit speakers are Candy Heath, assistant U.S. attorney responsible for cyber and economic crimes; Jeff Schilling, chief of operations and security for Armor; John South, former chief security officer at Heartland Payment Systems; Shawn Tuma, cybersecurity and data protection partner at Scheef & Stone; Randell Casey, CEO and founder of CyberDefenses Inc.; Chuck Easttom, computer scientist, author and cryptology expert; and Mike Saylor, executive director of Cyber Defense Labs.
